“Circular Economy: Fashion Forward to Resilient Future”

Dear Colleagues,
The Korean Society of Clothing and Textiles (KSCT) is pleased to invite you to the 2024 International Conference on Clothing and Textiles (ICCT) to be held on May 10 - 11, at the International Convention Center, Jeju, Republic of Korea. The ICCT held successfully in 2018, 2020 and 2022, again calls for abstracts for oral and poster presentations, and graduate students’ research competition. The KSCT, is the largest educational and scientific organization for the field of fashion and textiles in Korea, and its primary goal is to advance research and education for academicians and industry practitioners in this field. This year, a joint symposium will be held as a part of the conference, with Japan Research Association for Textile End-Uses.

As we face global climate crisis resulting from carbon footprint, we are seeking circular economy for healthy and resilient growth of fashion and textile industries. With the theme of the 2024 ICCT, Circular Economy: Fashion Forward to Resilient Future, the following critical research agenda will be discussed: Innovation in retailing, technology-driven design & manufacturing, eco-friendly materials, sustainable business models, digital fashion, emphasis on diversity and inclusivity, artificial intelligence, corporate responsibility, labor, human right, and automation, role of media and technology, and paradigm shift in fashion/textile education.

Guideline for Authors:

  • Cover page
    • Research title, author(s) name, affiliation, contact information (address, phone number, and email address)
    • Indicate the type of presentation (oral or poster).
  • Abstract
    • In English, Word file format.
    • Include the title (single spaced, maximum 30 words) but no identifying information about author(s) or professional affiliation(s).
    • Tables and other graphics should be incorporated within the body of the abstract.
    • The body of abstract should be no longer than 2 pages including the references.
    • A4 size paper, 2.5cm margins 4 sides, font of Times New Roman, font size of 11, single spaced
    • All abstracts will be double-blind peer reviewed.

  • On-line submission begins on : January 1, 2024
  • On-line submission due : February 15, 2024
  • Registration begins on : February 1, 2024
  • Notification of acceptance by : March 4th, 2024
  • Early-bird registration due : March 15, 2024
  • Conference : May 10-11, 2024

1. Call for Research Presentations

Related topics from diverse interdisciplinary approaches will all be considered. We particularly encourage submission of abstracts in line with the theme of the conference, Circular Economy: Fashion Forward to Resilient Future which will seek for healthy and resilient growth of fashion and textile industries and explore innovative ideas and technologies that incentivize and promote circularity. There are two options available: oral presentation and poster presentation.

  • Economics of Clothing and Textiles/Fashion Business : Management of the Clothing and Textiles Industry; Merchandising; Retailing; Fashion Marketing; Consumer Behavior; Socio-psychology of Fashion
  • Fashion Design and Cultural Study on Fashion : Aesthetic Aspects of Fashion Product or Design Process; Textiles/Clothing/Fashion Design; Fashion Trend; History of Fashion; Costume or Dress; Fashion Theory; Fashion journalism; Fashion exhibition.

2. Call for Graduate Student Research Competition Submission

Graduate students are encouraged to submit their research abstracts for a competition. A separate online oral presentation session will be held for the graduate student research competition. ​​ ​​(Each presenter will have a 5-minute slot for their presentation. The presentations will be delivered in real-time online, accompanied by an official Q&A session through live chat or live broadcasting)

* Recent graduate within one year of obtaining your degree are also eligible to apply (not currently appointed as a professor).
